Domain Names of Hilarity
by Kelson Vibber
Domain names can now be up to 63 letters long (oddly, not including the .com part). So if you want your website to be www.thedomainofthosewholiketotypelongsentencesandcanrememberthem.com you can get it. Why you'd want it, I have no idea. But, hey, someone's already registered thisisareallylongdomainname.com!
Naturally, you can add your own subdomain and hostname and have something like welcome.youarenowentering.thedomainofthosewholiketotypelongsentencesandcanrememberthem.com
Of course at this point there is no longer any reason to mess with domain names, since the only people who will ever reach the site are following links, and it might as well be a plain IP address or a random hostname (like website5432.isp.net)
Now, imagine an email address email for a user on that computer... Joseph_Thaddeus_Schmenderman@welcome.youarenowentering.thedomainofthosewholiketotypelongsentencesandcanrememberthem.com
Try putting *that* on your business cards!
