How to Put a Phone Extension in Your Android Contacts
I finally got around to looking up how to put a phone extension into Google Contacts or Nextcloud Contacts or any other contacts that Android is willing to use for dialing, without hiding it in a note or breaking autodial.
- Use a comma after the main number for “pause,” and it will dial the extension as soon as the other end picks up.

- Use a semicolon for “wait,” meaning that it’ll wait for a message to end first.

When editing the contact on your phone, you can find the buttons in the symbol keyboard that pops up when you tap “* #”.
And there you have it: It’s readable and it will work with the dialer!
