The world stands alone, rising up from the sea, its four corners home to the kingdoms of Amazonia, Kryptonia, the Gotham Crags and the idyllic Haven. Near the Cristal Lake at the world’s center lies the City of the Center.
Fifteen years ago the Beast’s legions overran the world, and would-be conquerors like Starro and Luthor Rex took advantage of the chaos. The City of the Center was left in ruins by the time the Beast was defeated and Starro driven out. And then the Three Men led the city in rebuilding, and into prosperity.
There was the Fast Man, who burned with nervous energy and was always on the move. The Wee Man, though none dared call him that to his face. And the Green Man, whose eye for free trade and a freer balance sheet was legendary. (JLA: Riddle of the Beast)
This story is the tale of the Beast’s return, and his defeat by the prophecies of the Riddler at the hands of a boy called Robin and his companion Zatanna.
